As the kitchen is one of the most used rooms in a home creating a stylish and practical décor is essential if you're going to make your kitchen warm and inviting. Depending on your colour scheme you can use tartan fabrics which are bold on colour， go for a more subdued look with neutrals or opt to stay within your comfort zone and use mid-tone ranges and hues.
Neutral tones co-ordinate beautifully with white kitchens which lean towards a traditional style， Soft greens and beige are ideal for using in predominately white kitchen as they blend quietly into the background， while the colours within the cloth can be hight-lighted with other plain soft furnishings such as table runners or table cloths. The bolder colours cry out to be used in contemporary homes and can be used for window dressingslinen cushion covers， or seat cushions and table runners and are perfect for bring splashes of colour into what would otherwise be a plain kitchen.personalized baby blankets
Go for the modern tartans and plaids in hot pink， teal and slate greys which will sit stylishly next to black polished marble or granite work surfaces and shiny steel appliances. Country cottage kitchens are ideal for tartans and plaids which fall within the mid-ranges of colours， not too bold and not too quiet. As we've seen throughout this weeks posts there are plenty of coloured tartan fabrics to choose from so you shouldn't have any trouble finding a colour which will fit into the style of your home or your colour scheme.
Don't rule out using tartans for other kitchen accessories. Picture fames， lining for wicker bread baskets， napkins and place-mats can all be used if you want to totally co-ordinated look which has adds a delightful charm in country or cottage homes. It's also worth noting that although tartans and plaids are traditionally medium and heavy weight fabrics， lightweight cottons or cotton blends with a chequered pattern can also be used to make seat pads， other soft furnishings and window dressings.
These many not truly be classified as tartans but they do provide the same visual effect， they're just lighter in weight which some may prefer to sew with. A quicker route would be to use ready made roman blinds or ready made kitchen curtains and there are plenty to select from online to get the colour to compliment your kitchen's décor.
